Shockwave Treatment is a non invasive treatment which can help alleviate pain from conditions such as plantar fasciitis or inflammation.
A shockwave is an acoustic wave which carries high energy to painful spots and myoskeletal tissues. The energy promotes regeneration and repair of the bones, tendons and other soft tissues as well as increased blood flow and break down of scar tissue.
Shockwave can be beneficial for:
- Plantar Fasciitis + chronic inflammation of the plantar fascia – (heel pain): Pain is generally located on the bottom of the heel and may be particularly painful in the morning or after rest.
- Patella Tendon Syndrome (knee pain): Many call this runners or jumpers knee; however anyone can suffer from knee pain. The area might be painful and stiff and make movements that involve bending the knee uncomfortable, such as climbing stairs.
- Tibialis Anterior Syndrome: Pain is generally felt at the front of the shin, ankle or feet during movement when kicking, running (particularly on uneven surfaces) and could be aggravated by unsupportive shoes.
- Achilles Tendinopathies – inflammation of the Achilles tendon: Generally caused by over use, the Achilles tendon can become painful, stiff or swollen and may become gradually worse even at rest. Other factors such as tight muscles or poor lower limb biomechanics can cause pain in this area.
